Here are some tips to some basic SEO, We start off with simeple meta tags and will get more advance as we go explaining what a html website needs to have. A CMS or blog will have plug-ins to help. Forums also have a plugin of some sort to make it search engine friendly.
Meta tags are the oldest and easiest way to get started with SEO, Basicly meta tags are telling search engines what your site is about, Your targeting keywords. When you are writing these don’t target keywords that are saturated or have to many competitors or you will never reach any good pages of search engines. It’s said if you are not on the first page of google,bing, yahoo, then you will not receive much traffic. Choose keywords that get searches but also give you room to be found while users are searching for other things. This way you have the possibility to reach multiple first pages and get traffic, with that traffic brings revenue.
Other ways to seo your website are using alt tags on images for keywords for the image. Googles Image search will bring you some good traffic also.
Another way is making sure your website loads fast, Google penalizes slow loading websites.
Another thing to remember is use a robot.txt in your root folder, This tells the robot what to do to index and follow links on your site.
